AISRAP host the Cycle Around the Globe 2019 campaign in support of World Suicide Prevention Day

The Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP) is a national and international suicide prevention research centre.

In support of World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September, the International Association for Suicide Prevention are running a Cycle Around the Globe challenge from 10 September to 10 October 2019. The campaign focuses on individuals to cycle and contribute any distance on any route to collectively Cycle Around the Globe to raise awareness of suicide. 

AISRAP asks our global community to engage with each other and join together to spread awareness of suicide prevention.

Suicide is one of the top 20 leading causes of death globally for people of all ages. It is responsible annually for almost 800,000 deaths, which equates to one suicide every 40 seconds. A majority (75%) of suicide deaths worldwide occur in lower and middle income countries. 

The Cycle Around the Globe campaign supports community-based suicide prevention activities in lower and middle income countries, with the aim to help communities recognise suicidal feelings and support those in distress to seek help.

There is no cost to get involved but individuals are able to fundraise for IASP or make a donation when registering. All funds raised will go towards suicide prevention activities around the globe.
